Who we are

Dystopia was founded by Luigi Pasquini and Omar Aborida in the summer of 2020, following on from their previous home Anchor Lane Studio.  Since opening our doors we have produced countless albums, EPs, singles, live sessions, audiobooks, musicals and video productions.

We set out to transform the space into an industry standard recording facility that is a comfortable and creative environment to facilitate music making, recording, filming and production.

Five years on, the music hasn’t stopped and we are still going strong, continuing to work towards a greater Dystopia!

LUIGI PASQUINI

Luigi Pasquini is a musician, music producer, recording engineer, and mixer. He has worked with artists such as Graham Costello, Alice Faye, Azamiah, Nimbus Sextet, Rebecca Vasmant, Stevie Jackson (Belle and Sebastian), Benjamin Power (Fuck Buttons, Blanck Mass, and more), Linda Lewis, and hundreds of others. He has also remixed Gilles Peterson’s Str4ta song “Rhythm In Your Mind”  with his remixes/production duo Nuovi Fratelli.

His extensive portfolio includes over 400 productions spanning songwriters, jazz in all its forms, fusion, psychedelic rock, and alt rock.

An experienced engineer and producer, Luigi rejects the idea of working from a template—every recording is carefully crafted and uniquely stylised. Luigi is a true music fan, and his production approach comes from the listener’s perspective. For him, music demands time, patience, and taste—qualities he brings to every project.

He also plays synthesizers with the space rock band The Cosmic Dead.

Luigi loves Magic: The Gathering—and hates lava lamps.

OMAR ABORIDA

Omar is a musician, filmmaker, sound recordist, producer, mixing engineer and recording engineer specialising in audio experimentation, vintage amplification and known for his work with The Cosmic Dead, Dead Otter and Tape Rituals.

“My own experiences of recording studios as an aspiring musician were always underwhelming, I found those studios too sterile to find the sound I had in mind. It was only by taking a DIY approach that I found my way and that is distilled in my approach to recording now.

Dystopia is a reflection of all our experience and wishes for a recording studio, a collaborative space that platforms music and the creative process.

My favourite method of recording is to understand well the objective of the artist and to best capture the energy and sound of the musicians playing together in the moment, Dystopia is the ideal place to realise this.”

As a recording engineer and producer Omar has worked with The Cosmic Dead, IDEAL, Sloth Metropolis, Dead Otter, Gunpoint X, GABO, The Hallions, First Light Last Light, Scott William Urquhart, Atlas Empire, Dalmatic, Fuz Caldrin and many more.
